Celebrating World Bicycle Day

• Destination: the Butte de Lion, memorial on the site of the Battle of Waterloo – 1815
• Connection? Invention of the bicycle – just 2 years later – 1817
• Ensemble:
  • Shorts of the Cyclists’ Touring Club – established 1878.
  • Shirt of the Godric Cycling Club – founded 1953.

They have seen an awful lot together these four.

What a day to enjoy a world celebration of cycling, and to do so in a place that has been a physical backdrop to my life in Belgium. The neighbours claim you can see the Lion from our lane. Can I click one of those facebook emoticons that says “I feel lucky”?
