I have one or two “catch-up posts” to do, stories and photos I never managed to post alongside other stories from the same trip.

Not least of these was my trip to Madrid a few weeks ago where I managed to write about the cycling but didn’t finish the tourist side of my trip.

Firstly I thought I better bring some balance to my reporting of the local food. I previously reported the ugliest fish I have ever seen on a plate. But really the food was delicious and attractive.

Our foodie highlight was definitely Mercado San Miguel, a beautifully refurbished traditional covered market near the grand Plaza Major. Inside it has the most amazing selection of prepared foods and snacks served up between other booths that serve drink.

Buzzing atmosphere and stunning food. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
